Superbowl Ads 2009

So, I just watched all the Superbowl ads on youtube/adblitz and I gotta say I’m really disappointed.

Seems like it’s all about outdoing each other with crazy stunts, expensive visual effects and lame jokes. Many of the commercials were totally generic and irrelevant to the prodct or  the brand anything. Some even downright stupid.
Like this, this, this and this. But see for yourselves. Or don’t…! 

There were however some rays of hope. Like “Roadies” or “Talking Flowers“.
But by far my favorite Superbowl commercial this year has to be AUDI’s
“The Chase”. 

Also worth mentioning, I think, is the Miller High Life “1-second-ad”. Find out all about it on 1secondad.com.

 

Anything else? Oh yeah… Steelers won.

Audi “Efficiency-Race”

I really like the new german AUDI A4 commercial. Simple storyline with a nice little twist at the end… Just spot-on.

Great work from kempertrautmann, radical media and director Sebastian Strasser. (Btw, he also directed one of my all time favorites – the VW Polo GTI commercial starring “Peter“.)

The Story: Two guys “race” each other in their AUDIs. But it’s not about speed…

Translations for readers not fluent in german: Basically, the one guy is saying “I’m gonna get you!” the whole time. In the end he frowns and says: “I’ll get you next time…”
